Description Personal papers and writings by John A. Hitchings, including the original handwritten copy of" I was Homesteading," an "Autobiography of John A. Hitchings of Gold Hill, Colorado, Written by himself in his 76th year from memory." Many other papers, drawings and newspaper clippings are also included. Some materials relate to his mining work, including handwritten items titled, "Mining work done by J.A. Hitchings of Gold Hill, from 1859 to 1899 inclusive" and "Mining Inequities." Materials are housed in a flat box so may be on a shelf with other oversize materials in the document storage stacks.
