Description This collection contains a small sample of the records kept by Elizabeth Blanchard Doherty that dealt with the operation of Blanchard Lodge in 1939, 1941-42, 1944, and 1946-1947. Even though the lodge had a telephone as early as 1927, long distance direct dial was not available in the U.S. until the 1950s. So, most people wrote to ask for information and to request reservations. Mrs. Doherty usually replied by the next day and kept all her correspondence. Only a few of the hundreds of letters were retained for this collection.
