He describes the process of stocking alpine lakes and Boulder's children's fishing ponds, the annual Fishing Derby, raising trout in the club's fish hatchery, and coping with challenges such as whirling disease.

She also addresses changes in Martin Acres over the years.

Call Number OH1893-VDate 2013Description Emma Gomez Martinez has been a spokesperson and advocate for the Hispanic community in Boulder since the 1950s. She was born in Aguilar, Colorado in 1928. Her father had come from Mexico in the 1920s; her mother's family was from Northern New Mexico (one grandmother was a Comanche Indian). Her parents moved to Erie, Colorado, in 1929; her father worked in the coal mines in the winter and did field work in the summer. She talks about discrimination against Latinos in the schools and witnessing the deportations of Mexicans in the 1930s. She comments on the effect that discrimination had on Latinos. She describes lack of employment and housing for Latinos in Boulder in mid-twentieth century Boulder. She talks about the history of her work with OEO (Office of Economic Opportunity) in Boulder in the 1960s and 1970s. She comments on positive relationships among Latinos and blacks in that neighborhood. She talks about the re-naming of Canyon Park in her honor in 2013.

Call Number OH2005-VDate 2014Description Jane Daniels was principal of Whittier Elementary School from 1976 to 1982. Polly McDonald became the secretary for the school in 1979. She continued in that role for many years, but she also became the school historian and eventually began a Whittier Historians Club for fourth-grade students, which continues to this day. The women relate the history of the school, which opened in January 1883 as the Pine Street School, was renamed the Whittier School in honor of John Greenleaf Whittier in 1903, and is now the Whittier International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program School. They talk about some of the school-wide projects that were carried out in relation to the school's centennial celebration in 1982, the artist-in-residence program of that same era, the IB program and how it has changed education for the students, and the projects carried out by the Whittier HIstorians Club.

Call Number OH2021Date 2015Contents single recording 41 minutes, 41 secondsDescription Mike Thompson, a member of Boulder Fish and Game, has been living at the trout hatchery across from Boulder Public Library since 1978, taking care of the trout that eventually end up in the Evert Pierson Kids’ Fishing Pond. Each year he raises 2000 trout dropped off by the Colorado Division of Wildlife until they’re at least 7 inches long, big enough to release into the pond and send to some of the area’s high lakes. He describes some of the challenges of running the trout hatchery, such as keeping the runs clean, helping the trout stay healthy enough to grow to a catchable size, and keeping the property and the fish safe from college students and raccoons. He talks about the history of the trout hatchery and the kids’ fishing pond, including the role that Boulder Fish and Game played and still plays in keeping the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area high lakes stocked with trout. He emphasizes the important part that donations and volunteers play in keeping the hatchery and the ponds running for generations of children and families to enjoy.
