Description Richard Kiefer interviews Dave Zader for KGNU's program "A Public Affair". Dave Zader is the Wildland Fire Administrator for Boulder County, and was the air operations branch director for the Type 3 incident management team that was activated during the September 2013 floods. He discusses his role during the floods in reconnaissance and coordination of food and water drop-offs, as well as rescue operations. He also talks about how his team's responsibilities intersected with FEMA. the National Guard, US&R (Urban Search and Rescue), and the U.S. Army. He concludes by highlighting the importance of community involvement in firefighting and other emergency efforts that depend on volunteers, as well as the critical nature of aviation support during flood, fire and other emergencies.
