History: The edges of many of the papers in this collection were singed, perhaps in the 1871 fire in the temporary courthouse at 1018 Pearl Street.

Description The surveys of mining claims go from preliminary sketches to finished color plats, often with the name of the owner, discovery shafts, open cuts, tunnels, roads, creeks, surrounding claims, and structures.
