This recording is of a discussion by a panel of eight women who were being honored as life-members of the League of Women Voters - members with 50 years or more of League involvement. The women spoke of their experiences with the League and their work on a range of issues, including the environment, land use planning, civil rights, education, and the Equal Rights Amendment. The panelists credited the League with being an organization that provided numerous intellectual and activist opportunities for women, especially during the years when such opportunities were not as plentiful as they are in 2012. The League was described as an incubator for helping women gain skills, confidence and experience needed to enter public affairs, as was the Boulder Public Office for Women, which is also cited.
