One vertical file that contains information clipped from newspapers, magazines, and other publications on: various protest movements, demonstrations, marches, and sit-ins that have taken place in Boulder. Protests include demonstrations by anti-fracking activists, marches against racial injustices, anti-presidential protests, Seniors protest for Thunderbird Lake, the civil rights march in Montgomery, Alabama, the student protest for child care in 1974, and University of Colorado student protests against Joseph McCarthy and the Vietnam War.

Description
John Buttny, one of the founders of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) chapter at the University of Colorado-Boulder campus in the late 1960s, describes founding the local SDS chapter in 1967; actions that the chapter undertook over the next two years, including political organizing, sit-ins, and civil disobedience around issues such as military recruiting, draft resistance, and the availability of birth control; the riots that ensued when conservative S. I. Hayakawa spoke in an inflammatory way at Macky Auditorium; and the legal repercussions of that melee for some of the individuals involved. He also delves into the later days of the SDS, including the birth and operating structure of the Weatherman faction, the Days of Rage in Chicago in 1969, and the evolution of the Weather Underground.
