A map of Boulder County that gives the location and a description of historic sites, research facilities, and museums that have an association with the history of women in Boulder County. Thirty-seven women are featured with very brief descriptions of their influence on Boulder County history.

A Gold Hill resident for fifteen years and President of the Gold Hill Club, John Sand relates his experiences in the the Gold Hill community as well as discussing the history of Gold Hill. He focuses on what makes Gold Hill unique and how its residents communicated Gold Hill history through their sesquicentennial celebration in 2009. He also relates the history of the Bluebirds (or the Holiday House Association) and explains the ongoing attempts to preserve the historical character of Gold Hill.

Contains photographs from the first summer of the Blue Bird Cottage showing the interior and exterior of the house in 1911, and various clippings, incoming correspondence and other papers regarding the Blue Bird Club that Mrs. Sherwood collected. The latter part of the scrapbook contains papers concerning fund-raising activities of the Altrua Lend a Hand Circle of which Mrs. Sherwood was the president, ca. 1908. Clippings, songs, letters, telegrams, poems, and other printed materials are included.

The Burlington Railroad produced these 16-page brochures to publicize the Bluebird Club's two retreats for Chicago women in Boulder and Gold Hill, Colorado. Both are amply illustrated with photographs, and contain train fares and schedules.

This folder contains programs from performances and events held at the Boulder Chautauqua. The performers included the Russian Cossack Chorus, Ferullo and his band (in 1910), the Brandon Light Opera Company and Metropolitan Opera Company soprano Marie Rappold., This folder also contains the words to a new song, "The Chautauqua at Boulder," sung on 4 August 1906 by Larrimore's Gymnasium Chorus, and accompanied by Rischar's Orchestra. Louis Rischar wrote the music and (with Roger Imhof) the words to the song., Several of the programs are from events held at the Chautauqua grounds. These included the eighth annual Maccabee picnic for northern Colorado (in 1904), the Western Temperance Conference and Training School (in 1912) and the tenth and sixteenth annual banquets of the Chautauqua (in 1913 and 1919), and an undated program for concert and film dated July 5th..

Contains typescripts of biographical articles about Jean Sherwood. Also, an article on "How Blue Bird Cottage was organized and succeeded."

The envelope contains twenty-seven photographs that are slightly blurred. Most are not suitable for reproduction. The images are primarily the outings and activities of the Bluebird Club. Five images (Photos 1-5), representative of the collection, were chosen for scanning.

Contains clippings, mostly from the Boulder Daily Camera, and three index cards from that newspaper's morgue file, documenting the history of the Blue Bird Club. Many of the earlier clippings (1908-1931) are archival photocopies from the two Jean Sherwood scrapbooks (264-1-8 and 264-1-9)

Contains incoming and outgoing correspondence of Jean Sherwood, some typewritten and some manuscript. One describes a portrait of her by Ralph Clarkson. Most of Mrs. Sherwood's outgoing letters in this folder are to A. A. "Gov." Paddock.

Contains correspondence, clippings and other papers regarding the establishment and continued operation of the Blue Bird Cottage in Boulder. The pages of the scrapbook are brittle.

Typed text, with hand written corrections, of Professor Boggess' speech accepting the portrait of Jean Sherwood that was unveiled in the art gallery of the University of Colorado, Boulder. He paid tribute to Mrs. Sherwood for her love of beauty and her wholesome influence on the Boulder community.
