Mary and Ed Wolff were involved with Walter Orr Roberts and I.M. Pei in bringing the Mesa Lab of NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research) to life. They discuss the history of this project from the time it was just a vision for a unique laboratory enabling collaborative interdisciplinary scientific research, to working with its architect, I. M. Pei, to its completion. They describe the problems and challenges in the areas of design and construction as well as how political problems of dealing with choice of a site, a director, and the interactions with the city, state and federal governments were overcome. They talk about some of the ways the building did not live up to expectations and the many ways it demonstrated symbolic and practical scientific value, particularly in respect to new ways of doing science.

Ed Wolff talks about his participation in the life of the Boulder music community, including his personal experiences in arranging and composing for local, national and international singing groups. He served on the boards of the Colorado Music Festival, the Boulder Philharmonic and the advisory board of the University of Colorado College of Music, and talks about development and progress of these organizations with respect to musicians, conductors and audiences from the 1970s and '80s to the present. He was also a founding member of the New Wizard Oil Combination, a singing group in Boulder, and discusses other "a capella" groups such as Ars Nova singers. In addition, he comments on the genesis and growth of the MahlerFest and the Bach Festival and Boulder's development of a broad community base of varied and successful music groups.

This box contains documents pertaining to the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame, established in 1992. The Criteria Statement stated that their mission was "to research, document, and recommend for induction into the Hall of Fame those individuals who have been instrumental through business-related efforts, in providing direction, energy, and support to the shaping of Boulder County since its inception. Those business-related efforts should result in community-wide economic, social, cultural, political, and/or religious benefits that not only had an immediate positive impact on the community and its citizens, but an impact that will still be evident in decades to come.", The contents include biographies of the inductees, newspaper clippings, guest lists, and lists of names to be considered for the award.
