Bill Cohen discusses the Lamm-Wirth Task Force, which was established in 1974 by newly-elected politicians Governor Dick Lamm and Congressman Timothy Wirth to explore alleged dangers at the Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant. Bill describes his role on the Task Force as attorney and representative for Tim Wirth, the conduct of the inquiry, and the recommendations that emerged by consensus from the Task Force. He also discusses media and public reaction to the report and his own conclusions regarding its effectiveness, including efforts to implement the recommendations and the ways in which the report may have changed public understanding about the plant and the tide of public opinion.

Dr. Honeyman is an Associate Vice President for Research at the Colorado School of Mines. In this interview he talks about his involvement with Rocky Flats, from about 1997 to 2002: providing Kaiser Hill with expert analysis of remediation efforts; his scientific research; and his roles on the Citizens Advisory Board (CAB) and Scientific Advisory Board. Honeyman compares Rocky Flats to other U.S. sites with nuclear materials. He shares thoughts about the impact of Rocky Flats on his career, including challenges, stresses, and lessons learned - emphasizing the tension of working with the public as a scientist. Honeyman also weighs in on the lasting health concerns associated with Rocky Flats.

Jack Weaver began his 35-year career at Rocky Flats in 1961, doing outdoor physical labor and then quickly moving into chemical operations, where he advanced to foreman, and then shift manager, and then operations manager for building 771. He also worked in the Health and Safety Department. In this interview, Jack gives a narrative of his career, including descriptions of chemical processes, building construction and maintenance (both 771 and 371), infinity rooms, site deconstruction, and prospects for Rocky Flats{u2019} ultimate cleanup. He also talks about the Cold War, the buildup of nuclear weapons as a military deterrent, and his feelings about opposition to Rocky Flats. At the time of this oral history, Jack was working as a fixed-price contractor for Los Alamos Technical Associates, lending historic knowledge to the cleanup efforts.
