Description
Tim Head describes the upcoming (at the time of the interview) events for Airport Day 2014 at the Boulder Municipal Airport. At this year's event, in addition to the customary displays of airplanes and helicopters, there will be special recognition for the flood rescue personnel who performed evacuations during the September 2013 Boulder County floods, including those from the Colorado Army National Guard and the U. S. Army, and an opportunity for the aviators to reconnect with the members of the community that were rescued. Tim also describes the World War II Ball, which takes place in the evening, and is a 1940s-themed, USO-type gala.

Interviewees include Tyler Smith, Eric Carlson, Steven Wheeler, and Robert Ault. In this radio program, U. S. Army personnel and crew members of Blackhawk and Chinook helicopters speak of their experience during the Boulder 2013 flood rescue mission during which they evacuated and rescued more than a thousand people and three hundred to four hundred pets. They discuss the gratifcation of using their military skills to aid American citizens on American soil and the challenges of the rescue operation.
