JoAnne Foster tells many stories of her and her husband's lives in Boulder. Her husband, Bob Foster, grew up in Boulder in the 1940s. She and Bob both worked for the Boulder Valley School District; Bob mainly as a coach and JoAnne mainly as a counselor. JoAnne describes the consolidation in 1960 of eleven small school districts that today cover Boulder County: the Boulder Valley RE-2 school district and the St. Vrain school district. Although JoAnne talks about working at Platt Junior High and Fairview High School, she talks most in depth about her years at Casey Junior High during the 1970s and 1980s under principal David Zeckser. She describes the great diversity of the school's population and the many approaches that were used to meet the individual needs of students at that time. She also talks about the 1960s and 1970s as a time of social upheaval, in terms of hippie culture and anti-war protests. As a side topic, JoAnne also explains the evolution of the restuarant scene in Boulder, from nearly non-existent before the 1970s when Boulder was a dry town, to the blossoming of it as a foodie mecca once the sale of alcohol was legalized.

This research was compiled in 1939 by Clarence L. Spears. "This study is an experiment in that it takes a year, selected more or less arbitrarily, and attempts to determine the general situation, from an examination of the documents dealing with that year and from interviews with persons familiar with Boulder in that year; it attempts also to compare, after the passage of more than fifty years, the values of records with the memories of people who knew the town in that year, and have remained through the changing scenes.

This collection contains various business records of the Boulderado, publicity information, news clippings, and other information concerning the operation of the Hotel from the day of its opening through 1982.

David Rosdeitcher, aka The ZIP Code Man, reflects on his twenty-one years of performing as a busker on the Pearl Street Mall (and elsewhere). His act involves having people give him their hometown ZIP code; he then can tell each person where he or she comes from. The act also includes juggling and storytelling and is a perennial favorite of downtown mall visitors. David Rosdeitcher tells about the origins of the act, describes how he developed it, relates surprising and touching anecdotes about performances, and speaks of his love of performing, entertaining, and having a positive effect on people. The interview also includes a description of Boulder in the 1970s and 1980s, when the city was "the juggling capital of the United States", and discussion about what makes Boulder unusual and an appealing place to live.
