Gwen Dooley looks back on decades of community and governmental service to Boulder, beginning in the 1970s and continuing to this day: as a neighborhood activist, city council member, member of both the Open Space and Parks and Recs boards, and PLAN-Boulder County member and chairperson. She discusses some of the important and colorful issues that Boulder has dealt with during that time, ranging from the serious - development and environmental issues - to the offbeat - how the city dealt with nude bathing at Coot Lake. She also talks about good government practices, political campaigning, and offers recollections of Boulder during the late 1950s and 1960s.

Ted Tedesco, city manager of Boulder from 1967 to 1973, looks back with pleasure, humor, insight, and some nostalgia, on his tenure here. He begins by describing his background and early career as a jazz musician, followed by his decision to go to college and change careers. He describes himself as an "activist" city manager and details the role he played in managing issues such as the first approval for an open space tax, the defeat of prohibition laws, and the anti-Vietnam War riots in the late 1960s. He reflects on why he left Boulder and compares working as city manager in Boulder with his experience in San Jose.

Jim Bowers, former planning director (1966-1967) and city council person (1967-1971) speaks about his time in both of these positiions. This period was marked by riots stemming from opposition to the Vietnam War and changes in the social and political attitudes of many young people, which Bowers recalls. On the other hand, Bowers also recalls his time on city council as having been a relaitvely peaceful and congenial time amongst the council members themselves as well as with the general citizenry and other entitites such as Boulder County, the Federal government and the Boulder Valley School District. One exception he speaks of at length was an episode in which threats were made to the lives of council members over consideration of the removal of the lighted cross and star on Flagstaff Mountain. He also tells about serving on the RTD board of directors for twelve years beginning with the creation of RTD in 1969.

These 17 folders contain archival photocopies of newspaper clippings from 1939-1945 which Ira M. DeLong collected in a scrapbook. They were copied to preserve and improve the accessibility of the information they contain. The articles cover most aspects of the municipal government and socio-economic affairs of Boulder, Colo., during those years.

These two folders contain numerous informational leaflets published by the Boulder Chamber of Commerce, for the most part. Folder 01 has leaflets from the 1930s through 1957. Brochures from 1963 through the 1970s are in folder 02.

Folder 11 contains a blank sheet of Democratic County Central Committee (Boulder, Colo.) letterhead. The remaining folders contain archivally photocopied clippings and other printed materials pertaining to Democrats, particularly in the Boulder region. F.12 covers 1906-1949; items in f.13-34 cover the period from 1950-1979. A. A. Paddock and Laurence Paddock compiled these materials at the Boulder Daily Camera.

This folder contains a small notebook containing names and addresses of some Boulder (Colo.) registered voters.
