Dan Wilson tells about being born and growing up in a house on 7th Avenue (now Hawthorne Street) in Boulder, mainly during the Depression years. His parents acquired eight acres of land that included a house, barn, chicken house, other outbuildings, an orchard, and pasture in trade for the one-ton truck in which they had driven into Boulder. He paints a picture of what life was like when this area of north Boulder was filled with small farms and orchards. He also talks about how he and his father worked at Long's Gardens and how owner Jesse D. Long befriended him. The interview contains video of nine photographs showing family members, his childhood home, and Mt. Sanitas in the 1930s.
