Renée Williams' house was unscathed by the flooding of Bear Creek during the Boulder County Flood of 2013 - or so she thought until a day later, after rocks washed down by the flood unseated a manhole cover and blocked the sewage system. For five days her house and some of her neighbors' houses filled with raw sewage. She tells about this experience, how her family and her neighborhood coped with the situation, the difficulties involved in convincing the authorities that there was indeed a sewage problem, and how cleanup was accomplished. She speaks eloquently and movingly about the power of community in crisis situations.
