ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION: Brick, sandstone veneer. Onion spire tops corner tower. Round arched windows and decorative brick work., STYLE : Nineteenth Century Commercial., DATE BUILT : 1898, STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: The Willard Building was built by two prominent prohibitionists in Boulder and the building is named after the president of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, and is thus representative of the prohibitionist sentiment in Boulder. The large commercial block, with its onion dome, adds to the architectural diversity of the Downtown Boulder Historic District.

Description
One vertical file that contains information clipped from newspapers, magazines, and other publications on: the history of prohibition and bootlegging in Boulder, the Better Boulder Party, the Beer Act and Beer Day . Boulder went "dry" in 1907, though by mandate of a Colorado statute which argued that 3.2 % beer was not intoxicating, a number of establishments sold 3.2% beer in the "dry" years. Boulder went "wet", meaning that all forms of alcohol could be sold, in 1967.
