In this wide-ranging interview William Arndt discusses many aspects of the history and functioning of the First United Methodist Church of Boulder, especially the church's music programs, architectural history, and sense of community. He describes the upheaval that the congregation experienced over the issue of having gay pastors during the 1970s and its eventual decision to become a "reconciling congregation". He also offers recollections of the social and political upheaval that Boulder experienced during the 1960s. Finally, the interview details his own family history, including memories of his mother, Arlyne Arndt, who also has been interviewed for this program's collection (see OH 1132V A-B).

Madeline (Midge) Bean-Nelson moved to Boulder in 1951 with her husband, Trafton Bean, who became the first planning director for the City of Boulder. She talks about his work, her career in teaching home economics, her family, and her recollections of and involvement in the First Presbyterian Church of Boulder, of which they became members in 1954. She also mentions the architectural work of Hobart Wagener.

These folders contain newspaper clippings about buildings in Boulder and Boulder County. The clippings were compiled by the Reference Staff at the Boulder Public Library.

This folder contains documents pertaining to the designation of the property at 1401 - 1421 Spruce Street as a historic landmark (L00-4). Included is an application for individual landmark status, Ordinance #7119, photocopies of black and white photographs of the exterior of the church, a church brochure dated 1999, a 1993 church calendar with black and white photographs of the exterior and interior of the church, neighborhood plat maps, an article titled "Architecture of the First United Methodist, Descriptions of the Old Sanctuary", a 1999 "Condition Survey" for the church prepared by New West Architecture, and a memorandum to the Landmarks Board to consider the recommendation to request individual landmark status. Included in this memorandum is the historical significance, the distinction in the development of the community, the architectural significance, and the environmental significance.
