ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION: U-shaped motel building, with newer motel building behind it. The U-shaped building has a gabled roof, "log" siding, and rectangular sliding windows. The rear motel building is of brick and stucco construction; casement style windows., STYLE : Rustic., DATE BUILT : ca. 1930., STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: This is one of the few surviving of the many 1930s-era motels that were once in this area.

ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION: 18-unit motel. Originally nine rental cabins -- the carports between the cabins have been enclosed as motel units. The original cabins are front-gabled; rough-hewn log construction., Vertical pucheon siding; diagonal pucheon siding in gable ends. Wavy vergeboards. Stone chimneys; flagstone porch stoops. Inset entrances to each cabin. Paneled doors, window boxes, and window trim painted red. Multi-paned windows with awnings. Interiors have knotty pine paneling, beam ceilings, and hardwood floors. Office/residence same style as motel units. Anderson Ditch runs through property., STYLE : Rustic., DATE BUILT : ca. 1934., STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: The Foot of the Mountain Motel is believed to be the oldest continuously operating hotel in Boulder County. While there were once at least a dozen motels in this area in the 1930s, few have survived.

This folder contains photographs of work crews building and paving streets around Boulder in 1928 and 1929, including Mapleton Ave., Pine St., Arapahoe Ave., Aurora at 6th St., and the intersection at 13th and Water Streets after removal of the railroad tracks. Includes Allion graders, concrete mixers, power shovels and other machinery.

The photograph was commissioned by the Boulder Chamber of Commerce as an advertisement, and has men in fishing gear, a couple cooking over a fire, Rocky Mountain Climbers Club tents, a newspaper boy, men in suits, and seven automobiles from the 1915-1921 era parked along Arapahoe Avenue.
