ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION: Side-gambrel-roofed two-story dwelling with eaves which overhang first story. Accentuated central entrance with curved porch hood supported by paired full- height wooden column supports. Brick and concrete stairs. Center door is paneled and has fanlight and paneled and glazed sidelights. Flanking door are paired 8/1 light windows with flat arches and brick sills. Shed roofed front dormer with four 6/1 light double-hung windows with shutters., Gable ends are shingled with brick chimneys extending through center, flanked by quarter-circle windows. French door onto balcony which is atop one-story extension on east. Eastern extension is flat roofed with groups of windows and is topped by wooden balustrade at cornice level. On west is garage beneath house, topped by open balcony, topped by shingled bay with French doors., STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: This house is significant as an example of the Dutch Colonial Revival style popular during the early twentieth century in Colorado as reflected in its gambrel roof; entrance with fanlight and sidelights; curved hood with classical column supports; and evenly spaced multi-over-single light windows. The house is also significant as a representation of the work of Boulder architect Glen Hunginton., DESIGNATION: National Register Eligible., STYLE : Dutch Colonial Revival, DATE BUILT : 1927

ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION: Octagon-shaped two-story brick dwelling with chiseled bricks at each corner. Low hipped roof; overhanging eaves; and exposed rafters. Front shed roofed dormer with exposed rafters has louvered vents. Front entrance has semi- circular stone arch and paneled side-sights. To right of door is small window with leaded glass and stone lintel and sills. South of door is large semi-circular arched window with stone lintel and concrete sill., Some first story windows have leaded glass transoms. Second story windows are 1/1 light with stone sills. Basement level windows have segmental arches. Brick chimney. Stone foundation., STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: This house is significant as a representation of the rare Octagon style popularized by Orson Fowler about 1849. The house is characterized by the eight-sided walls, low pitched roof, and eave overhang. Probably only a few thousand houses of this style were built, and only a few are known to exist in Colorado, making this house extremely significant for its architecture., DESIGNATION: National Register Eligible., DATE BUILT : 1907., STYLE : Octagon.

This folder contains a 97-page souvenir booklet for the dedication of the Masonic Temple in Denver on 3 July 1890; a poster for the Masons, copyright 1908 by Berdan Publishing Company, N.Y.; and a 142-page leather-bound book entitled The Colorado Craftsman, which is a manual for Masons in Colorado, published in 1912.

The vast majority of this scrapbook is devoted to the elections of 1955 and 1956., This is a Boulder Daily Camera scrapbook of newspaper clippings pertaining to local elections, including (in the order they appear in the volume) 1 Oct. 1956 map of municipal election precinct voting places, legal notices describing ballot issues, information regarding voter's rights, the city election on 2 Oct. 1956 over charter amendment changes electing council men by district and fire dept. and airport bonds, the state primary on 11 Sept. 1956, national election on 6 Nov. 1956, and a 26 Oct. 1954 city election on the ward system and water fluoridation. The last few pages of the scrapbook contain articles about local political issues including prohibition in 1906-1907., The October 1956 special election pertained to three proposed amendments to the city charter, and two proposed bond issues. City Charter issues were:, (1) reduce the residence qualifications from 5 years to 3 years for City Council candidates, (2) to provide for the election of five councilmen for every two years, for 2-year and 4-year terms continuing the present system of electing councilmen from the city at large, (3) to provide for the election of nine councilmen every two years, for 2-year terms, with one councilman elected by the voters of each of nine districts. The two bond issues were for $50,000 for improvements of the municipal airport and $250,000 for construction of two fire stations and purchase of two new fire trucks and other equipment.
