Radio personality, entrepreneur, and former University of Colorado station manager Bob Skutelsky speaks about moving to Boulder in the late 1970s; his time at Brillig Works Bookstore; the small town feel of the Pearl Street Mall in the 1980s; and the appearance of Eastern religions in Boulder as embodied by hippies, New Age culture, and Naropa University. Skutelsky also discusses being a founding volunteer for community radio station KGNU and his work on programs such as “In the Moment” and the “Howard Beale Radio Hour,” while also managing side projects such as a Boulder midnight movie series and Nexus magazine.

Artist Barbara Donachy describes her awakening to the threat of the nuclear arms race, piqued by a vivid dream. Barb talks about using clay pieces to demonstrate the big picture of nuclear proliferation: quantity, cost, and social implications. Her installation, "Amber Waves of Grain", replicates the US nuclear arsenal during the height of the Cold War. Barbara also explores the topics of nuclear waste, nuclear inheritance and guardianship, and the Cold War legacy that will be passed between generations. Her daughter, Sarah Bardwell (then 16 years old), is interviewed during the third portion of this oral history. Sarah talks about her vision of the future and humankind; what she's learning in school; what peers her age are thinking; and how nuclear proliferation factors into her imagination.
