418-1-(8-11) - documents include: hard rock drilling newspaper clippings and magazines, and miscellaneous postcards, some addressed to Fred Dopp (postcard photos include Red Spruce Mine and Smuggler Mine, Balarat).

Fred Dopp was the son of Clara and Charles H. Dopp. The family lived in Jamestown, Colorado, and Fred and his father worked in the mines. Fred was a hard rock drilling champion starting in 1905, and he traveled around the west winning many competitions. He died in 1963.

Fred Dopp collection.

Materials were donated by Barbara Gigone in 2024. Fred Dopp left these items to Barbara and Jim Gigone of Four Mile Canyon. Barbara Gigone met Dopp when she was working for the Boulder Daily Camera, and they became friends.
