Black Business Ventures collection.

Newspaper clippings, photographs and documents about businesses from the Black Business Ventures in Boulder list that is part of the Charles Nilon collection (see call # 756-1-23). This is a collection of materials compiled from other Carnegie Library for Local History collections.

The creation of this collection began through a Research Jam in collaboration with Museum of Boulder's Proclaiming Colorado's Black History project and Summit Middle School's volunteer service day in the spring of 2022. A group of Summit Middle School students came to Carnegie Library to learn about archives and assist with the beginning research for businesses included on the Charles Nilon collection list "Black Business Ventures in Boulder." Information was not found on all 24 businesses that appear on the list, but this collection shares information and images of several of the businesses and owners.
