History: Jessie K. Fitzpatrick was a Boulder educator and longtime Boulder resident. She was born 6 February 1886 in Kansas to Thomas H. and Ivie E. Fitzpatrick. The family moved to Boulder in 1897, and Thomas Fitzpatrick served several terms on the city council.
Miss Fitzpatrick was educated in Boulder and graduated from University of Colorado in 1908 where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority, Phi Beta Kappa and Kappa Delta Pi. She began teaching at Whittier School in the fall of 1908 and later served as principal of the school from 1924 until her retirement in 1947.
Miss Fitzpatrick was a very active member of the Congregation Church throughout her lifetime and also a member of several other women and education-related organizations. she died 11 September 1975.

Acquisition Note: Materials were donated by Maxine Benson 26 January 2016. She inherited them from her mother, Frances Ladwig Benson (wife of Mac W. Benson), who received them as part of a bequest from Fitzpatrick. According to Jessie Fitzpatrick's 13 September 1975 obituary in the Boulder Daily Camera, she was survived by a "family of unrelated relatives" including the Mac W. Benson family.

Description 40-page scrapbook of Whittier School's war efforts during the 1942-1943 school year. Scrapbook contains photographs of school children participating in conservation efforts, defense stamp and bond sales, celebrations including Pan American Day and World Friendship Day, and other wartime-related activities. Scrapbook also includes pages with hand-cut paper designs, an award from the United States Treasury War Saving Department dated 3 May 1943 acknowledging Whittier School's war efforts, and a letter from the Colorado State Treasury talking about how the scrapbook would be retained for the Denver region and state exhibits to be held in fall of 1943.
