This collection, gathered and donated by Mabel Downer Durning, the Allenspark Business Association (A.B.A.), and other donors, consists of six boxes of historical photographs of Allenspark pioneer families, businesses, buildings, and mines; and four posters with photographs and newspaper clippings about the Allenspark Historical Collection.

Mabel Downer Durning is a descendant of Chicago Colony (Longmont) pioneers. Members of the Downer family have lived in Longmont and spent summers in the Allenspark area since 1872.

Sixty-one digital-only images of the Rock Creek Ski Area and Allenspark locations and families were scanned and donated by Edie DeWeese with the permission of the photo owner, Bruce Baker, in April 2010. These images are part of the Allenspark Photograph Collection and are included in the Virtual Photograph Collection, 999-41. Eleven photographs documenting a trip through South St. Vrain Canyon from Lyons to the Clara Belle Mill, call no. 508-1-8, were donated by Janice Estey on behalf of Clara Bell Tripp Travis on 13 February 2017.

Mabel Downer Durning began collecting these materials while writing "Historical Reminiscing in the Allenspark Area", published in 1975. Interest generated by her research led to additional material being collected, which was subsequently displayed at a Pioneer Day celebration held in Allenspark in 1976. Photos from "Weaving Mountain Memories," by Lorna Knowlton are also included. Materials continue to be gathered and added to this collection.
