Box 2 includes 5 folders of miscellaneous documents, some relating to the Delbert A. Nelson family.
Box 3 includes panoramic photographs of street views around Boulder and Longmont by Delbert A. Nelson.
This collection also includes one oversize panoramic photograph and one oversize poster.

History

Delbert A. Nelson was the son of John August and Julia Amanda Nelson. Delbert traveled as an engineer but lived much of his life in the 2132 Pine Street home his father built in 1917.
John August Nelson owned a coal company and was a building contractor. According to his 1 July 1957 obituary, Nelson constructed "the First Baptist Church, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity house, J.C. Penney store, the telephone building on Spruce and the block of residents between 16th and 17th, Bluebell and Mariposa." According to the 20 August 2017 obituary of Delbert A. Nelson, his father also constructed the Glen Huntington Band Shell and the first addition to the Whittier School.

Materials were donated by Jay Nelson on behalf of his uncle Delbert A. Nelson. Materials were collected from the family home at 2132 Pine Street.

Description Photograph of street scene with two children standing in the foreground. In the background is a Platt Rogers Inc. truck, Conoco gas pump with a "Cold Beer, Dutch Lunch" sign, a pool hall and liquor store at right, and a mountain view behind. Based on similar photos, the location is believed to be Rollinsville, Colorado. Photo dates to circa mid 1930s based on car models, and after prohibition was repealed in December 1933 (note: beer and liquor signs).

Johnson’s property and an account of the handling of Johnson’s estate by J.A. Nelson, administrator, 1916. The rest of the book contains records presumably by J.A. Nelson of coal bought, money earned and expenses between 1916 and 1946. Some other miscellaneous papers of J.A. Nelson are stuck in between book pages including Nelson’s 1946 tax returns.
