Photo 1 - View of the University of Colorado campus and surrounding land from Flagstaff Mountain. Campus appears at center left through the trees with the Library (white building) on the south side of the quadrangle, Chemistry Building just visible to its east, Engineering Building (with smokestack) at the east end, Old Main on the north side of the quad, and Hale Science to its west. The University Hospital can also be seen to the northeast of Old Main as well as many houses in the surrounding areas, and the University Hill School is visible at the center right of the photo. Photo dates 1905-1909, after the University Hill School was built, but before the Guggenheim Building was constructed to the west of the Library.
Photo 2 - Closer view of campus and residential area to the west from Flagstaff Mountain with campus buildings towards the top of the photo, (l-r) Hale Science, Old Main, Woodbury Hall, Engineering Building, Library (white building). University Hospital is visible to the northeast of Old Main. The street crossing through center from bottom left to upper right is College Avenue. Homes on 11th Street and Pleasant Avenue are visible. Photo dates from circa 1905-1911.
Photo 3 - View from Flagstaff with trees filled in around campus. Buildings visible (l-r) Macky Auditorium, Old Main, Carlson Gymnasium with Folsom Stadium to the east, Library with Guggenheim Building to its west, Chemistry Building to Library's east, Hellems Arts and Sciences (south of Library) with the Geology Building to its west. The Engineering buildings (Hunter and Engineering I) are farther southeast with the smokestack of the Power House visible to their east. Photo dates 1924-1931, after Carlson Gymnasium was constructed but before the Memorial Student Union was built to the southwest of the Guggenheim Building. See envelope for a photocopy labeled with building identifications.
Photos 4 and 5 - Similar views to photo 3, but later, possibly circa 1939 construction of Norlin Library. Campus buildings (l-r): Macky Auditorium, Hale Science, Old Main, Carlson Gymnasium with Balch Fieldhouse and Folsom Stadium to the east, Norlin Library (with scaffolding), original Library (later Theater Building), Ketchum Arts and Sciences, Memorial Student Union, Hellems Arts and Sciences with Geology Building to west, Engineering I and Hunter Building with Power House smokestack to east.
