Documents, advertisements, catalogs, and clippings about the the Boulder Art Association.

Summary

Box 1. 1960-1993. Boulder Art Association documents and a few photographs. This box has not yet been fully organized.
Box 2. 1923-1938. Art Association of Boulder's correspondence with other agencies, organizational records, publicity notices for exhibits and classes, membership lists, and attendance records, as well as archival photocopies of newspaper clippings concerning the Association. Most of the materials date from the 1930s when Francis J. Geck was president.

History

The ART ASSOCIATION OF BOULDER was organized in 1923 to create a center for the art interests of the community by maintaining an art gallery and lecture hall; to stimulate an appreciation and understanding of the arts; and to provide art education facilities for talented children through the summer months.
The BOULDER ARTISTS' GUILD was "organized in 1924 to assemble earnest workers in the creative arts, to advance and encourage the artistic expression of its members." There was an annual exhibition of members' work in May.
The BOULDER ART ASSOCIATION was organized in 1955.
