Description

This collection contains a range of Boulder County (Colo.) portraits and scenic views, and other photos that were with the A. A. Paddock collection of photograph albums. Box 1 contains 634 tintypes, ca. 1890s. Most of the photos in box 2 are portraits, including photos collected by Boulder fire chief Emil Johnson. Box 3 has portraits and views. Box 4 contains more Boulder views, most of them taken by J.B. Sturtevant. Most of the 1,558 photos in this collection are identified.

Ownership Note

As a founder and the first president of the Boulder Historical Society, Alva A. Paddock was the conduit for many materials donated to the Society, including these photo albums. His son Laurence Paddock continued to acquire historical materials on behalf of the Boulder Historical Society.

This collection is on permanent loan from the Boulder Historical Society.

Description Tintype portraits of men and women. The album was the property of Henry O. Andrew of Boulder, Colo. The date Dec. 11, 1891, appears after his name and address inside the front cover. Most of the persons pictured in the album were classmates or professors of Andrew's, either at the State Preparatory School in Boulder (classes of 1888-1894), or at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Henry, Jr. Most of the persons pictured were graduates of the State Prep School, ca. 1890-1894.
