Description: Photographs and albums from the Mabel Guise Montgomery collection including: Gold Hill, views around Boulder, school buildings and children, the Spaulding/Guise family and friends.
History: Mabel Montgomery was the daughter of pioneer Gold Hill residents James H. and Hannah C. Spaulding Guise. Hannah Spaulding was the first teacher at Gold Hill school and James Guise was a miner. Mabel was born at Gold Hill in 1885. She attended Boulder schools and graduated from the University in 1914. She married Boulder grocer Ralph Hall Montgomery in 1926. Mabel taught in the Boulder schools for 20 years and also wrote a booklet titled "A Story of Gold Hill, Colorado: Seventy-odd Years in the Heart of the Rockies." She died in 1956.
